Public Speaking Finals

Our Stage 3 and Stage 2 public speaking finalists presented their speeches in our school hall on Tuesday, April 2nd and Wednesday, April 3rd respectively.

Prepared speeches of 3-4 minutes ranging from 'smoking' to 'space' to 'shooting in our National parks' were presented by the finalists followed by a 1-2 minute impromptu speech (this year the Stage 3 topic was 'books' and the Stage 2 topic was 'holidays') with only 5 minutes preparation.

Our 2013 Stage 3 finalists included; Liam Possingham, Maddison Avery, Matthew Dorahy, Sophie Maric, Harry King, Amber Hill and William Hyde (absent Rebecca Hopkins).

Our Stage 2 finalists included; Kai Nudd, Jacob Roberts, Chelsea Watson-Sinclair, Quinn Watson, Taiga Harada and Mikaila Watson (Ben Hopkins absent).

As has been the development over the last few years, the standard was very high and the competition was tight. Mullaway has developed a strong reputation for public speaking amongst the Coffs Harbour district and we have performed well at a district and regional level in recent years. This is largely due to the commitment and dedication from our classroom teachers and public speaking coordinator, Mr. King

All of our finalists can be proud of their efforts this year. The process to qualify for the finals is quite rigorous and requires a commitment from the  the students and their families.

Two winners from each Stage will be announce shortly and represent our school at the Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking Competition.
